Backed by his team of qualified physician assistants and staff, Dr. John Vitolo is driven to see you the entire way though your treatment to a successful rehabilitation. This level of commitment is the product of Dr. Vitolo’s philosophy - that in order for you to achieve an optimal surgical outcome - you need the finest patient support and long-term care.

Specializing in injuries of the shoulder and knee, Dr. Vitolo approaches each patient uniquely, but with the same expectation for success many athletes look for in an orthopedist, namely, the restoration of the full range of motion, and the speedy return to an active lifestyle.

Dual Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and Fellowship trained in surgery of the Shoulder and Knee, Dr. Vitolo has worked as team physician with the Boston Red Sox, New Jersey Cardinals, and currently with the Sussex Skyhawks. He also served as president of the YMCA.

Dr. Vitolo holds certifications from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is a member of the prestigious American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, New Jersey Orthopedic Society, Sussex County Medical Society, and other professional societies.

Dr. Vitolo received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Vitolo serves as assistant clinical professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He has been in practice since 1985.

Dr. Vitolo lives in Sparta with his wife and family, where they enjoy spending time together. His enthusiasm for sports of all types gives him a deeper understanding of the needs of his patients.
